Brush Collection Guidelines
Definition
Brush refers to woody vegetation such as cut or broken branches, limbs, and twigs from trees and
shrubs, typically generated from storm damage or routine trimming.
Rules and Regulations
• Placement: Place brush on the berm within 10 feet of the road or curb in a neat, orderly row. Do
not place materials in the road or on sidewalks. If your property is a corner lot, please place brush
on the secondary roadway, not the main thoroughfare for safety.
• Orientation: Position limbs with cut ends facing the street to allow for efficient chipping.
• Size Limits: Branches must be less than 5 inches in diameter.
• Preparation: Leave limbs as long as possible; only trim them as needed for safe handling.
• Scheduling: No appointment is required. Crews operate on a continuous route throughout the
Township.
Restrictions
• No Mixed Materials: Do not combine brush with grass clippings, noxious weeds, leaves, trash,
bamboo, or root balls.
• No Landscaping Debris: Items such as landscape timbers or fence boards are not accepted.
• No Vines or Thorny Materials: Vines, thorny bushes, grasses, or noxious weeds will not be
collected.
• No Contractor Debris: Brush generated by private contractors is not eligible for pickup.
• Prohibited Items: Fully intact trees, trash, metal, wire, concrete, grass clippings, noxious weeds,
leaves, trash, bamboo, root balls or other solid waste will not be collected.
• Height Limit: Piles must not exceed knee height.
• Small Pieces: Branches shorter than 12 inches should be placed in an open container.
• Volume Limit: Piles should be of a manageable size, allowing collection within approximately 20
minutes.
• No Bulk Clearing of Lots: Brush pickup services does not include lot clearing or fence row
clearing.
Drop-Off Program
Outside the regular brush pickup or if piles do not comply with the policy, residents may drop off at the
Compost/Mulch Facility, 1516 S. Bird Rd. on Tuesday or Thursday 3 to 6 p.m. or Saturday 8 a.m. to 1
p.m. Proof of residency is required.
