Springfield Township offers free mulch and compost to Township residents at the Township composting facility located at 1516 South Bird Road. 

Springfield Township residents (only) can bring leaves, grass clippings, ornamental grasses, stumps, tree branches (up to 5 inches in diameter), and evergreen trees to be recycled and turned into mulch and compost. You do not need to bag these items; however, if they are brought to the facility in bags, please do not leave them in the bags. 

Mulch and leaf compost are FREE, while supplies last, to Township residents. Self-service only, but we can scoop and load it into your truck (2 scoops maximum, additional amounts at the discretion of the facility manager). No mulch is provided to landscapers or business owners so we may have an ample supply on hand for our Township residents' needs.

2025 Operating Hours:

April 1 to October 30.

Tuesday and Thursday 3 to 6 p.m.

Saturday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Proof of residency is required.
