On September 17, 2025, the Springfield Township Board of Trustees held a public dedication ceremony to officially rename Heritage Park to Jim Scoby Heritage Park. Family, friends, and former Township employees gathered to honor the life and legacy of Trustee Jim Scoby.
The renaming is a tribute to Trustee Scoby’s 25 years of devoted service to Springfield Township. Throughout his tenure, he led with passion, dedication, and a deep love for the community he served. This renaming not only honors his memory but also reflects the Township’s ongoing commitment to preserving local history and recognizing individuals who have made lasting contributions to the community.
The Springfield Township Trustees are excited to see the park continue to thrive as a place for recreation and community gathering under its new name.

On August 20, 2025, the Clark County Board of Commissioners, via Resolution 2025-0667, approved an agreement to purchase multiple parcels of land from Allen Armstrong for the purpose of constructing a new public safety complex. The parcels included in the purchase are located at:
0 South Limestone, Springfield, OH 45502
Parcel IDs: 3050700032300003, 3000700032300010, 3000700032300011, 3050700032300013
Annexation and Jurisdiction: Most of the property lies within the City of Springfield as a result of a 99.59-acre annexation, formalized by City Ordinance #16-278. However, two parcels, 3000700032300010 and 3000700032300011, totaling 1.34 acres, remain under Township jurisdiction.
Lack of Township Notification: Importantly, the Township Trustees were not consulted or informed by the Clark County Commissioners or the Clark County Sheriff’s Office prior to this land purchase agreement, despite part of the property and surrounding area being under the Township’s jurisdiction.
The Trustees are currently reviewing this matter and will continue to advocate for transparency and collaboration in decisions that affect the Township.
